The iPad 10 (2022) is where the entry-level iPad finally broke from the old 10.2-inch mold that carried through the iPad 7, iPad 8, and iPad 9. Flat edges instead of rounded ones, a bigger 10.9-inch screen, USB-C instead of Lightning, and Touch ID moved up into the top power button instead of a Home button. It looks like an iPad Air. It does not repair like one.

Four years later, the iPad 10 is a regular in our shops across Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, and Tucson — the iPad most people bought new instead of hand-me-down. If yours has a cracked screen, a battery that’s stopped holding a charge, or a USB-C port that’s given up, here’s exactly what to expect when you bring it to All Mobile Matters.

The iPad at a Glance

The iPad 10 (2022) launched on October 26, 2022, as a genuine redesign rather than another spec bump. Here’s the quick-reference breakdown:

Display 10.9-inch Liquid Retina LCD, non-laminated, 2360 x 1640 (264 ppi)
Processor A14 Bionic
Battery 28.6Wh — up to 10 hours of use
Back Material Aluminum unibody — no glass back
Frame Aluminum, flat-edge design
Front Glass Standard glass, non-laminated, oleophobic coating
Touch ID Integrated into the top power button — no Home button
Water Resistance None — no IP rating
Cameras 12MP rear, 12MP front (landscape-oriented, Center Stage)
Storage / RAM 64GB or 256GB / 4GB RAM
Connector USB-C

The design changed, but the one detail that actually matters most on our bench didn’t: this display is still non-laminated, with an air gap between the glass and the LCD, just like the three generations before it. That’s genuinely good news — it means a cracked-glass repair on an iPad 10 still doesn’t have to mean replacing the whole display. Here’s how we assess it when it comes through our door.

How We Rate This Device

Repairability: 2/10

iFixit’s teardown called this one “the iPad Air 4, but worse” from a repair standpoint, and the details back that up. On the plus side, the battery finally has proper stretch-release pull tabs — a real improvement over the glued-flat batteries on the iPad 7, 8, and 9. On the downside, the logic board is glued directly to the chassis, and the USB-C ribbon cable is welded in place rather than sitting on a simple connector, which makes port repairs more involved than the Lightning ports on its predecessors. The redesigned front camera also took over the space where a second-generation Apple Pencil’s charging coil would normally sit, which is why this iPad only pairs with the first-generation Pencil, and only through an adapter.

Durability: 5/10

The aluminum unibody back handles drops well — you won’t shatter it the way you would a glass-backed device. The larger 10.9-inch front glass panel is the tradeoff: more surface area than the 10.2-inch screens on the iPad 7 through 9, which means more exposed glass on a corner-first drop. With no IP rating, liquid exposure remains the other repair we see constantly on this model.

iPad 10 Screen (Digitizer) Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson

Typical timeframe: 90–120 minutes | Parts: In stock at all locations | Pricing: iPad 10 repair page

Every repair at All Mobile Matters starts the same way: we log the device, run a full pretest to document what’s working and flag anything that isn’t, confirm the cost with you upfront, and give you an honest time estimate before anything gets opened. If you want the full rundown of that process, our post on How Does the Device Repair Process Work at All Mobile Matters is worth a read.

For the iPad 10 screen specifically, here’s what happens on the bench:

  1. The display goes on our heating pad to soften the adhesive running around the full perimeter — the larger panel means more surface area to heat evenly, so we work methodically rather than rushing any one section.
  2. Once the bond softens, we work a suction cup and picks around the edge to create an opening gap, then immediately disconnect the battery before doing anything else. Nicking the wrong cable while the battery’s still live is the single riskiest moment in any iPad opening, so we clear that risk first.
  3. Because this display isn’t laminated, the cracked digitizer glass separates cleanly from the LCD underneath — the LCD usually comes through untouched, which is exactly why a digitizer-only repair keeps the cost down instead of forcing a full display swap. Unlike the iPad 7 through 9, there’s no Home button assembly to transfer here — Touch ID lives in the power button, so it’s untouched by a screen repair.
  4. The replacement digitizer connects, and we test touch response across the full panel before sealing anything back up.
  5. Fresh adhesive goes around the full perimeter, the new digitizer seats into place under even pressure while it cures, and all screws go back in. Full function check before the iPad goes back in your hands.

iPad 10 Battery Replacement in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson

Typical timeframe: 90–120 minutes | Parts: In stock at all locations | Pricing: iPad 10 repair page

This is one repair where the iPad 10 is actually easier than its predecessors. Getting to the battery still means going in through the front display — same opening as the screen repair — but once we’re in, the battery itself comes out cleaner. Here’s the full sequence:

  1. Heat softens the display adhesive around the perimeter, and we work it free with a suction cup and picks, propping the display open on one edge without fully disconnecting it.
  2. The battery connector comes off immediately once we have access — before we touch the battery itself. That order matters: working near a live-connected lithium battery with metal tools is how punctures happen.
  3. Here’s the improvement: the iPad 10’s battery has real stretch-release pull tabs, the same style Apple uses on the iPad Air and iPad mini. Pulled slowly and at the correct angle, the adhesive releases in a clean strip instead of requiring the isopropyl-alcohol-and-patience approach the glued-flat batteries on the iPad 7, 8, and 9 demand. We still treat every lithium cell with the same caution — a punctured or deformed battery is a genuine fire risk regardless of how it comes out — but this one is a more predictable job.
  4. The new battery connects, and we test charging and power-on before closing anything up.
  5. The display reseals with fresh adhesive around the full perimeter, screws go back in, and we run a full function check — charging, touch response, cameras — before you get the iPad back.

If your screen and battery both need attention, ask about our bundle pricing. Since the display already has to come off for either repair, doing both in one visit is meaningfully more affordable than two separate trips.

iPad 10 Charge Port Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson

Typical timeframe: Under 120 minutes | Parts: In stock at all locations | Pricing: iPad 10 repair page

The iPad 10 switched to USB-C, which is a welcome change for anyone tired of keeping a separate Lightning cable around — but from a repair standpoint, it didn’t get easier. The USB-C ribbon cable is welded to the logic board rather than sitting on a connector you can simply unplug, which means this is precision soldering work just like the Lightning ports on the iPad 7 through 9, not a flex-cable swap.

  1. Same opening procedure as the screen and battery: heat, suction cup, picks, and an immediate battery disconnect once we have access, since we’ll be working directly on the logic board.
  2. The internal shielding and brackets around the bottom edge come out to expose the USB-C connector assembly.
  3. Under magnification, the damaged connector’s welded joint is carefully desoldered from the logic board and the replacement assembly is soldered into place — clean joints, no bridging, no heat damage to surrounding components. This is the step most general repair shops aren’t equipped to do, which is why charge port issues on iPads get quoted as “not repairable” more often than they should. If you want the longer version of what this kind of work actually involves, we broke it down in What Is Solder Work?
  4. We reconnect the battery and test charging, data sync, and cable retention before the board goes back together.
  5. The display reseals with fresh adhesive, screws go back in, and we run a full function check — charging, sync, speaker, and cameras — before the iPad leaves our hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to fix an iPad 10 screen?
At All Mobile Matters, iPad 10 digitizer (glass-only) repair starts at $169, and a full LCD display replacement starts at $179. Final pricing is confirmed after technician diagnostics.

How long does an iPad 10 repair take?
Most iPad 10 repairs — screen, battery, or charge port — take about 90 to 120 minutes, and parts are kept in stock at all of our locations for same-day service.

Is the iPad 10 the same as the iPad 7, 8, and 9 for repair purposes?
Mostly different, actually. The iPad 10 has a larger 10.9-inch display, a flat-edge design, USB-C instead of Lightning, and Touch ID moved into the power button instead of a Home button. What carries over is the non-laminated display construction, which still allows a cheaper digitizer-only screen repair.

Can I replace just the cracked glass on an iPad 10 without replacing the whole screen?
Yes. The iPad 10’s display isn’t laminated, so the glass and LCD are separate layers. If the LCD underneath is undamaged, a digitizer-only repair is possible and costs less than a full display replacement.

Does the iPad 10 support the Apple Pencil 2?
No. The redesigned front camera occupies the space where the Pencil 2’s charging coil would sit, so the iPad 10 only works with the first-generation Apple Pencil, and only with a USB-C adapter.

Is it worth repairing an iPad 10 in 2026?
For most owners, yes. A screen, battery, or charge port repair costs a fraction of a replacement device, and the A14 Bionic chip still handles everyday browsing, video calls, and schoolwork comfortably.

Do I need an appointment for iPad 10 repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, or Tucson?
Walk-ins are welcome, but booking an appointment online guarantees the fastest turnaround since we can have your parts staged before you arrive.

The iPad 10 was Apple’s attempt to modernize the entry-level iPad without the Pro price tag, and four years later it’s still a genuinely capable tablet for the price. A fresh screen, battery, or charge port can get several more years out of a device that’s often already paid for itself. I started All Mobile Matters because people deserve a repair shop that’s straight with them: here’s what’s wrong, here’s what it costs, here’s when it’ll be done. That’s still what we do.
