Most Commonly Needed Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Repairs — Cost, Timeframe, and What Actually Happens During the Process
Repair Guide — All Mobile Matters
The Galaxy S21 Plus occupies an interesting spot in the Samsung lineup — bigger than the standard S21, more pocketable than the Ultra, and priced right in the middle. It’s the phone a lot of people bought in 2021 when they wanted the most phone they could carry without going full flagship. Five years later, we see plenty of them in our shops across Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, and Tucson — and we know this device well.
If yours has a cracked screen, a battery that won’t make it through the day, or a back panel that’s seen better times, here’s exactly what you can expect when you bring it to All Mobile Matters.
The Phone at a Glance
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus launched alongside the standard S21 on January 29, 2021. Think of it as the S21 with more of everything that matters — more screen, more battery, more real estate — without crossing into Ultra territory. Here’s the quick-reference breakdown:
| Display | 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120Hz, flat panel, 1080 x 2400 |
|---|---|
| Processor | Snapdragon 888 (US) / Exynos 2100 (International) |
| Battery | 4,800mAh — 25W fast charge, 15W wireless, 4.5W reverse wireless |
| Back Material | Polycarbonate (plastic) — not glass |
| Frame | Aluminum |
| Front Glass | Gorilla Glass Victus |
| Fingerprint Sensor | Ultrasonic in-display |
| Water Resistance | IP68 (30 min at 1.5m) |
| Cameras | 12MP main + 64MP telephoto + 12MP ultra-wide |
| Storage / RAM | 128GB or 256GB / 8GB RAM |
The flat display and polycarbonate back are the two things that matter most from a repair standpoint — and both are good news compared to the curved glass of the S20 Plus that came before it. That said, five years of daily use, Arizona heat, and the odd drop take a toll on any device. Here’s how we assess the S21 Plus when it comes through our door.
How We Rate This Phone
The S21 Plus earns the same 4 out of 10 repairability score as the standard S21 — consistent with what iFixit found in their teardown of the S21 lineup. The polycarbonate back flexes rather than shatters during removal, which is a genuine improvement over the S20 Plus’s glass back. The flat display is also cleaner to work with than a curved panel — no curved edges to navigate, consistent adhesive perimeter, and a modular display cable we can disconnect cleanly.
What holds the score back is the battery — glued down with substantial adhesive and no pull tabs, same as every other Samsung flagship. There are no shortcuts here. We dissolve the adhesive with isopropyl alcohol, we wait for it to release, and we don’t pry. That approach takes longer, but it’s the only safe way to remove a lithium battery without risking puncture or deformation.
On durability, the S21 Plus scores a 5 out of 10. The Gorilla Glass Victus front is legitimately tougher than what came before it, and the polycarbonate back is essentially immune to the back-glass cracking that plagues the S20 Plus, S22, and S23 lineups. The flat display eliminates the edge-impact vulnerability we see constantly on curved-screen Samsung phones. Where we see damage: front display cracks, camera module contact points in face-down drops, and — increasingly — battery degradation. Five years of charge cycles combined with Arizona summer temperatures is hard on lithium cells. If your S21 Plus is struggling to make it through the day, the battery is almost certainly the culprit.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Screen Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
Every repair at All Mobile Matters starts the same way: we log the device, run a full pretest to document what’s working and flag anything that isn’t, confirm the cost with you upfront, and give you an honest time estimate before anything gets opened. If you want to understand that process in more detail before coming in, our post on How Does the Device Repair Process Work at All Mobile Matters is worth a read.
For the S21 Plus screen specifically, here’s what happens on the bench:
- SIM tray out, bottom screws removed. The phone goes on our heating pad to soften the display adhesive around the full perimeter. The flat panel on the S21 Plus is a genuine advantage here — unlike the curved displays on the S20 Plus, there’s no curved geometry to work around. We heat evenly and work methodically, starting at the bottom edge.
- We apply a suction handle and slowly work the display free using picks sized for this chassis. The S21 Plus uses a modular display cable — a specific improvement Samsung made over the S20 lineup — which means we can disconnect the screen cleanly without forcing a non-removable ribbon. Once the panel separates, the display connector comes off and the screen gets set safely aside.
- The in-display fingerprint sensor components transfer to the new panel, followed by a full calibration sequence — touch response, fingerprint recognition, display uniformity, brightness. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the S21 Plus is paired to the logic board, and skipping calibration means a sensor that’s unreliable or non-functional after the repair. We don’t skip it.
- Fresh adhesive goes around the full frame perimeter. The replacement display seats into position, we apply even clamping pressure while the adhesive cures, and all screws reinstall. Full function check before the phone goes back in your hand.

Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Battery Replacement in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
Battery replacement on the S21 Plus is the repair I want to be most honest with you about, because the process has one step that genuinely can’t be rushed — and trying to rush it is how batteries get damaged. Here’s the full sequence:
- SIM tray out, bottom screws removed. The polycarbonate back goes on the heating pad to soften the perimeter adhesive. This is where the S21 Plus already has an advantage over the S20 Plus — a polycarbonate back flexes during removal rather than cracking. We still heat carefully and work methodically, but the margin for error is meaningfully wider. Back comes off cleanly, flex cables protected throughout.
- Mid-frame screws out, interconnect cables above the battery disconnected. The S21 Plus internal layout is organized clearly — each component section is accessible once the back is removed, which keeps the disassembly sequence logical and clean.
- Isopropyl alcohol gets applied along all four edges of the battery to begin dissolving the adhesive bond. I want to be direct about this step: we apply it, and then we wait. We don’t pry, we don’t force, and we don’t move to the next step until the adhesive has released on its own terms. A lithium battery that’s punctured or deformed — even one at zero charge — can off-gas or, in extreme cases, ignite. Every battery we handle gets treated accordingly, and every old cell gets recycled through our proper disposal process, never the trash.
- Once the adhesive releases, the 4,800mAh cell lifts free cleanly. The new battery connects, secures, and we test charging and power-on before we close anything.
- Polycarbonate back reseats with fresh adhesive, all screws reinstall, full function check — charging, display, fingerprint sensor, cameras — and you’re back in business.
If your screen and battery both need attention, ask about our bundle pricing. Doing both in one visit is meaningfully more affordable than two separate trips.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus Back Panel Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
This is one of the better stories in the Samsung lineup, and if you’ve ever had a back glass repair done on an S20 Plus — or paid for one — you’ll appreciate the difference. The S20 Plus has a fully laminated glass back that requires careful heat, specialized tools, and a real risk of the panel cracking mid-removal. The S21 Plus has a polycarbonate back that bends rather than breaks. It’s a fundamentally different job.
- Phone on the heating pad to soften the perimeter adhesive. Because the back is polycarbonate, we have considerably more room in the removal process — no thermal shock risk, no cracking mid-pry. We still heat and work methodically, protecting the wireless charging coil and its flex cable throughout.
- With the back fully released, we clean all adhesive residue from the frame completely. Any leftover residue creates an uneven bond on the replacement panel — potential gaps where moisture and debris can work their way inside over time. We take the time to clean it properly.
- The replacement back panel installs with fresh adhesive applied evenly around the full perimeter. Consistent clamping pressure, proper cure time — steps that matter and that we don’t skip.
- Full function check — cameras, wireless charging, display, fingerprint sensor — before the device leaves our hands.
