After spending a good chunk of this year on the bench with Ultras and Plus-sized phones, the standard Galaxy S24 is honestly a nice change of pace. No S Pen silo to work around, no periscope zoom module tucked in the corner, and a display small enough that I’m not sweating heat damage to the OLED panel the entire time I’m reseating it. It shares the same core DNA as the S23 and S23 Ultra we’ve already covered — same pull-tab battery philosophy, same general repair order — but a second year of refinement and a genuinely compact body change a few things about how this one comes apart.
The Phone at a Glance
- Display: 6.2-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X, FHD+ resolution, adaptive 120Hz refresh, flat Gorilla Glass Victus 2
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (U.S. models) or Exynos 2400 (international)
- Memory: 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, no microSD slot
- Battery: 4,000mAh with 25W wired fast charging, 15W wireless
- Body: Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front and back
- Water resistance: IP68 (rated for up to 1.5m for 30 minutes, when the seals are new)
- Cameras: 50MP main, 10MP 3x telephoto, 12MP ultrawide, 12MP front
- S Pen: Not included — that’s Ultra-exclusive
Compared to the S23 Ultra, this is a smaller, lighter phone in almost every way that matters on a bench: smaller battery, simpler camera stack, no S Pen hardware, and a display small enough to heat evenly without babying the edges. It’s the most “back to basics” flagship Samsung makes, and that shows up in how quickly we can turn a repair around.
How We Rate This Phone
Repairability: 5/10
The pull-tab battery Samsung introduced with the S23 generation is into its second year here, and it shows — the process is smoother and more predictable than it was on last year’s phones. Independent teardown testing backs up what we see on our own bench: the S24 scored well on battery removal and parts availability, but screen removal is still the sticking point — literally. The display adhesive is aggressive enough that prying it off without cracking the panel takes real patience, which is exactly why we don’t recommend this as a driveway repair.
Durability: 5/10
Being the smallest, lightest phone in the S24 lineup actually works in its favor here — it’s easier to keep a one-handed grip on than the Plus or Ultra, and we simply see fewer S24s come in with catastrophic drop damage compared to their bigger siblings. Flat Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides holds up well to everyday drops. The tradeoff is battery capacity: at 4,000mAh, it’s the smallest cell in the family, so heavy users tend to notice degradation a little sooner than Plus or Ultra owners do.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Screen Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
The 6.2-inch panel is compact by flagship standards, which helps, but the adhesive underneath it doesn’t care how big the screen is. Here’s what happens on our bench:
- We test current display and touch response before disassembly, so you know exactly what was and wasn’t working going in.
- The frame is heated evenly to soften the adhesive — the smaller surface area actually makes this step faster and more consistent than on the Plus or Ultra.
- The damaged display comes off, and we transfer the fingerprint sensor components to the new panel, since Samsung’s biometrics hardware doesn’t come pre-installed on replacement glass.
- We recalibrate touch response and the fingerprint sensor before final assembly. Skipping this step is how a phone goes back together looking fine but with an unreliable fingerprint sensor.
- Fresh adhesive, a full reseal, and a final function test across touch, biometrics, and display uniformity before it goes back to you.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Battery Replacement in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
At 4,000mAh, this is the smallest battery in the S24 family, and the pull-tab release makes it the quickest battery swap of the three. Here’s the process:
- We power down the device fully and confirm the battery’s condition — swelling changes how carefully we proceed.
- The back glass is removed to expose the battery compartment.
- We locate and slowly engage the adhesive pull tabs, applying steady, even tension rather than yanking, which is exactly how a tab snaps and turns a routine job into a longer one.
- The old cell comes free without the heat and solvent that pre-pull-tab Samsung batteries required.
- The compartment is cleaned of old adhesive residue and inspected for corrosion or damage the old battery may have caused.
- The new battery is seated and secured with fresh adhesive strips in the correct orientation.
- Back glass goes back on with a full adhesive reseal to preserve what’s left of the phone’s water resistance.
- We charge-cycle test the new battery and confirm accurate percentage reporting before closing out the repair.
- The old battery goes to a certified battery recycler — a punctured or deformed lithium-ion cell is a genuine fire risk, not something that belongs in a drawer or a trash can.
Typical timeframe: 60–80 minutes | Parts: In stock at all locations | Pricing: S24 repair pricing or our general Samsung repair page.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Back Glass Repair in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler & Tucson
Without a camera bump acting as a pivot point the way it does on the Ultra, back glass cracks on the standard S24 are a little less common — but they still happen, usually from a hard drop directly onto the back or a corner strike that spreads a crack across the panel. The repair is straightforward:
- The old adhesive is heated and the cracked panel is carefully lifted away from the frame.
- The frame is cleaned of all old adhesive residue, since any leftover bumps under the new glass can crack it again under normal pressure.
- The new back panel is seated with fresh adhesive and even pressure applied around the full perimeter and camera housing.
- We test wireless charging and all three rear cameras for focus and image quality before handing it back.
Typical timeframe: Under 85 minutes | Parts: In stock at all locations | Pricing: S24 repair pricing or our general Samsung repair page.
We also handle rear camera lens replacement and charging port repair on the S24 regularly — both are quick, same-visit jobs. Current pricing for those and every other S24 repair is on our dedicated S24 pricing page.
