Here’s a confession: this news is over a year old, and apparently that still isn’t old enough for everyone to have heard it. So let’s fix that properly. Back in February 2025, we moved our main store from Tempe Marketplace to a standalone building in South Scottsdale, at 7841 E McDowell Rd. If that’s the first you’re hearing of it, you’re in good company — more people than I’d like to admit are in the same boat, and I’ll explain why in a minute.

Where It All Started: A Kiosk at Tempe Marketplace

All Mobile Matters started in 2009 as a tiny kiosk at Tempe Marketplace, parked right in front of Tilly’s and next door to our friends at Ghost Armor. I remember that kiosk like it was yesterday — mostly because I remember sweating through eight Arizona summers in it with no walls and no air conditioning. Outdoor kiosk or not, we spent those eight years helping thousands of customers with broken screens, dead batteries, cracked back glass, and every accessory in between. That kiosk is where this whole thing actually started.

Growing Up: A Real Store Across From Barnes & Noble

In 2017, we got the chance to move into an actual 1,000-square-foot store front, right across from Barnes & Noble. Honestly, my employees were more excited about that move than our customers were — for the first time, we had air conditioning and a bathroom that wasn’t a fifteen-minute walk away. The bigger indoor space also let us start taking on advanced repairs like micro-soldering, work that’s just not realistic to do out of a kiosk. Over the years that followed, we grew to as many as eight locations across the Valley.

February 2025: A New Home in South Scottsdale

Then, early in 2025, our landlord let us know our lease wouldn’t be renewed. We started hunting for a new home immediately, and when a standalone building on McDowell Rd in South Scottsdale came up, we jumped on it. It turned out to be almost the same footprint as our old spot, which meant we could move our displays, our welcome counter, and everything else over pretty much as-is. After some tenant improvements and a genuinely stressful move, we reopened at the new location in mid-February 2025 — 7841 E McDowell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, about two miles from where we used to be.

Why So Many of You Never Got the Memo

Here’s the part I still think about. Telling a few hundred thousand customers built up over 16 years that we’d moved turned out to be a lot harder than actually moving. We posted on Facebook, put a sign up at the old spot for a while, and told everyone we could in person. Since a lot of you are holding onto our lifetime replacement guarantee on tempered glass screen protection, we knew we needed to get the word out fast, so we also sent out thousands of text messages to recent customers. Some landed just fine. A lot of them got flagged as spam before anyone ever saw them — which, honestly, I get. We’re all buried in spam texts these days, and a mass text from a phone repair shop is an easy one to swipe away without a second look.

The net result: by our own estimate, about half of our customer base lost touch with us. To this day, I’ll talk to a customer nearly every week who had no idea we’d moved and had just assumed we’d closed. To everyone who tracked us down anyway, thank you — that takes real effort, and we don’t take it for granted.
